So I bought a skirt at Goodwill for $3.50 last week. When I got home I realized it was dry clean only. But it seemed kind of silly to dry clean a piece of clothing that costs less than the dry cleaning itself. So I hand washed it. Since it was a second hand purchase I used warm water for good measure.
I have never seen anything shrink like this skirt shrank:

It shrank so much I think it is too tight to be work appropriate. Also you can see the lining, which you definitely could not see before.
I guess $3.50 is a cheap price to pay for a life lesson in when not to hand wash your clothes.
