A few days ago I was riding my bike in Manhattan and a cyclist pulled up next to me and I was surprised to see two big, insulated caves that he had to reach through to grasp the handlebars. This attached glove situation (also called bar mitts?) is common especially on delivery bikes.
But it is July now.
I did not talk to the cyclist next to me, but I assumed it was kind of a Christmas lights in July kind of thing. Like, if they’re still there now what’s the point of taking ’em down.
But it was funny, seeing those thick insulated gloves. I was like oh. Oh yeah. I do faintly remember. Was that real? That dark and cold dream we all had together that we called winter.
